NEWS: £10m to be injected into SUTV

The Director General of a top television station has announced that they will inject £10million into SUTV prior to its launch which is thought to be in September. The announcement came this morning and it appears that the decision was made after seeing the enormous majority in favour of SUTV in a poll on The Gown website. More people voted in this particular poll than have ever voted in a Gown poll before.

REVIEW: A Streetcar Named Desire (performed by QUB Crèche)

The QUB Crèche Arts Week came to a close last Friday with a staging of Tennessee Williams’ classic ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’. Directed by Samantha Gold (age 6½), this is her debut play.

NEWS: Belfast AIESEC enjoys record success

 The Belfast branch of AIESEC, the world’s largest student organisation, is celebrating record numbers of students set to experience international internships this year. Present in over 100 countries, AIESEC is set to send approximately twenty graduates and undergraduates on international internships covering a broad spectrum of disciplines in over five thousand organisations worldwide. The organisation is also set to provide twenty international exchange participants with the opportunity to work and experience the culture in Northern Ireland at a business in Belfast. These exchange numbers are an all time high in the organisation’s history in Belfast.

NEWS: Law Society election results

The winners of the Law Society elections were announced in the Bunatee Bar last night. The Advocates won all available positions. The elected posts will be filled next year by Jason O’Neill as President, Josh Curry as Vice President, Marie-Claire Campbell as Secretary, Paula Fitzpatrick as Treasurer, Craig Fagan as Editor and Aidan Hughes as Mooting Officer.

NEWS: McGibbon selected as Green Party general election candidate

Adam McGibbon, the recently elected Union vice-president for welfare, is set for a second daunting electoral challenge this semester, successfully landing the Green Party’s nomination for Belfast South in the upcoming UK general elections. Queen’s University is situated in this constituency.

Message from the English Society

The English Scoiety will be selling their new hoodies from 1-3pm today in the foyer of the SU beside Clements. They’re £25 and well worth it! We’re also selling tickets for the Black & White Ball (mad party – 20th April) in the Mandela Hall for £7.50, featuring the Sabre Jets, DADA and Faux DJS, but you can get a hoodie and a ticket for £30 – bargain. Both are selling fast so come and get them!
