ARTS: Sonya Mac to play Mandela

The mystery guest to DJ in Mandela Hall this Thursday night is Cool FM star Sonya Mac, it has been revealed.

For days the Union has been encouraging students to guess who will be taking over the reigns from Declan Gallen on Thursday’s ‘Twisted’ club night.

Sonya Mac is scheduled to play ‘Twisted’ Thurdays for a period of four weeks.

Who would you prefer to listen to: Sonya Mac or DJ Deci?

Anyone who ever went to Chesters in Moira when they were 16/17 will know how awful she is! I doubt this will lure in the crowds

Deci please. Had the misfortune of having to listen to her DJ when I worked in Robinsons, trust me, not the sort of stuff you want

I’m actually looking forward to a couple of tunes from the Mac! Should be a good night, and if people support the Union I’m told some of the money may go to RAG tonight.

The change of scene may do the Union good – even if she is as dire as some people are saying.DJ Decci isn’t by any means the worst but his playlists can be a bit re-hashed from the week before and its always the same old tunes like blink 182, jet, wheatus and even the chart stuff is selectively repeated.
On another note, they could do with shiftin the guy who played house/electro for over an hour in a not very busy Bunatee: not much singalong/tap your foot material there + its so dark in there you can barely see>>> why bar sub needs to be reopened…why business needs to improve…

Yeah you hear big anthems a lot but that’s what big student discos are like! You can set your watch by the DJs in the Bot and in Rain – same songs, same time every night – at least DJ Decci mixes it up each night!

There’s nothing like being in Mandela when a big song comes on and everyone goes crazy:) I want to hear the big tunes not some stuff I’ve never heard of. My bf loves rock and I more pop and the union is the only night that keeps us both happy.
